bun Hygro

“bun Hygro” is a wifi temperature and relative humidity (RH) recorder and alarm system. It is powered by 2 replaceable AA batteries for up to 10 years and connects directly to Wi-Fi. More than an accurate meter and a reliable logger, “bun HYGRO” is also a cloud-based alarm system. All setting parameters like measurement intervals, upload intervals, minimum and maximum allowed temperature and humidity thresholds can be set through a web-based application on any platform. It sends out email and text message alarms as soon as any parameter goes wrong. It provides access to the records history, graphs and periodical reports on any platform. Its hardware and software installation is very easy and does not require any special tools or applications.

We all know monitoring the temperature and relative humidity is important in agriculture but other than preventing frost or heat stress, VPD is the main parameter behind measuring the temperature and humidity. The vapor pressure deficit, or VPD, is the difference (deficit) between the amount of moisture in the air and how much moisture the air can hold when it is saturated. Once the air becomes saturated, water will condense out to form clouds, dew, or films of water over leaves. It is this last instance that makes VPD important for greenhouse regulation. If a film of water forms on a plant leaf, it becomes far more susceptible to rot. On the other hand, as the VPD increases, the plant needs to draw more water from its roots. In the case of cuttings, the plant may dry out and die. For this reason, the ideal range for VPD in a greenhouse is from 4.5 hPa to 12.5 hPa, ideally sitting at around 8.5 hPa. As a general rule, most plants grow well at VPDs of between 8 and 9.5 hPa. The ideal VPD might be slightly different for various plants and in different stages of plants’ life. Key in your lights’ on and off cycle and your min/max desired levels of VPD during the day and night and let the application create the report for you. VPD reports can tell you the value of the minimum, maximum and average VPD levels during the day and during the night while indicating when the peaks happen, so you can optimize the cycles for lights, humidifier, dehumidifier and ventilation and maximize your productivity.
